While working on her Fall/Winter 2015 collection, fashion designer Lara Quint was absorbed by Thomas Harris' novel narrating the story of Hannibal Lecter, a successful surgeon, psychiatrist and serial killer with a penchant for cannibalism.
Impressed by the good manners of the renowned character, Lara Quint created long tailor-made coats and comfortable trousers decorated with blooming purple and bright orange tulips. Norwegian artist Ashkan Honarvar followed the designer's idea, drawing 10 exclusive prints for vests, transparent silk blouses, sweatshirts and jeans.
Hannibal Lecter is a fervid admirer of beauty and art. By eating flesh he aspires to scrutinize the unfathomable depths of human nature. According to the fashion designer, modern man also devours himself, trying to fill his inner emptiness with superficial gloss. This is the sense of Honaarvar's works on the garments of Lara Quint, who explains: "Sometimes it is useful for us to look at things which are the embodiment of evil and yet able to awaken our obedient conscience from the deep sleep of indifference, conscience which is very similar to dough".
