A “remix culture” by Ambush Design

Take the creativity of Japanese subcultures, add visual – and visionary – influences from around the world, and shake vigorously: this is the original recipe created by AMBUSH, a Japanese label founded in 2008 by fashion designers Verbal and Yoon. Initially entirely focused on jewelry, the brand quickly became hugely popular in the music scene and with influencers, with superstars like Rihanna, Beyoncé and Lady Gaga seen wearing pieces from the early collections.

AMBUSH started manufacturing apparel and debuted in Paris in 2015, when “Business of Fashion” included Verbal and Yoon in the list of the five hundred most influential people in the fashion industry. The brand began collaborating with other labels and designers – such as A Bathing Ape, NIGO, Maison Kitsune, Sacai and Undercover – and today is known for its de-structured, multicolor and multi-layer fashion. So big on personality it sometimes goes over the top, it is a favorite of VIPs in the world of music who have made bringing style to the stage their signature, like Pharrell Williams.
