Behind British brand &New pulses the creative and delicate vibe of Anglo-Finnish designer duo Jo Wilton and Mirka Grohn. Modern life, for them, isn't lived like a problem, but rather like a game they play with minimal, sculptural outlines and humble materials, like plywood and powder-coated steel.
Simplicity, elegance and durability then. A formula translated into furniture pieces that are compact and airy, light and versatile, all designed and made in England. The studio is in fact based in Leicester, a favorable location due to the presence of a thick network of light industries, steel manufacturers, carpenter shops and companies that produce packaging, with which in time Jo and Mirk have established both work and personal relations.
And so we have fun metal side table-cabinet "Robot", equipped with an open shelf and supported by zigzagging legs; console-table "Giraffe", slender and geometric; and the divisors/shelves with the evocative name of "A". All modular, multifunctional and colorful systems that add a touch of pep, order and comfort to our daily living.
