Made-in-Asia pop eclecticism for Maneki

Maneki Comptoir Asiat’ is the new restaurant by Studio Beau and Rainbow-Sangaré, in Montréal, Canada, at the heart of Hochelaga-Maisoneuve. It is designed to offer Asian dishes in a modern context, overflowing with pop references.

Blue dominates the decor palette, filling the wall behind the kitchen and highlighting the zigzag lighting system. All furniture was custom made, with many elements nodding at Asian pop culture – such as the neon lights or the restaurant logo itself, inspired by maneki-neko, the lucky charm cat. Metal grids welcome posters inspired by Chinese iconography as well as the menu du jour, which always adds a modern touch to traditional Asian recipes.
