The works of Amsterdam-based artist Milena Naef rely on plasticity and metaphysical atmospheres.
Her research delves into the duality of psyche and body, physicality and spirituality, opposite yet connected. Milena's intent is to find a new relationship between these apparently counterposed aspects.
In "Fleeting Parts" she does so through strong, evocative sculptures, where parts of the body stick out from slabs of marble. Matter and flesh, soft and hard, warm and cold, in pieces "to be worn". Marble, as the artist states, is tied to a family memory: her father has a sculpture school in Switzerland right next to a marble mine.
