Cecilie Bahnsen’s women are dreamy and ethereal, with an innate inner elegance. They have allowed the Danish fashion designer to invent her own refined – but never affected – aesthetic code.
After studying at the Danish Design School and Royal College of Art, Bahnsen worked for fashion icons John Galliano and Christian Dior. She won the 2016 DANSK Design Talent Award and was a finalist for the 2017 LVMH Prize. In her work she creates silhouettes that are as graceful as a flutter yet have the impact of a sculpture. Her pieces are made with high fashion’s traditional techniques, drawing inspiration from patchwork. Layers of fabric are paired to play with opacity and transparency, while maxi sleeves and balloon skirts build original volumes on the figure and romantic ballerina silhouettes move with melancholic allure.
