Simon Lextrait: workwear inspiration captures both past and present

French designer Simon Lextrait founded his namesake menswear label in 2016, after graduating from Geneva’s HEAD and the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Inspired by daily life’s needs, he has created a collection that reflects on the relationship between art and science, with workwear-worthy lines revisited and interpreted in a creative new way.

Lextrait designed his pieces imagining a man walking around a nuclear power plant. Deconstructed, basic and functional silhouettes are thus captured in outfits that use technical textiles in black, white or fall tones, like forest green and Sienna. Lextrait adds “signs” inspired by hieroglyphics on his pieces, creating an aesthetic that binds together art, fashion, past and future.
