The enchanted gaze on fashion of Kiki Xue

He's among the primary figures of contemporary fashion photography. Born in China in 1987, Kiki Xue studied mathematics before turning to photography and going on the win the PhotoVogue in Milan and moving to Paris. Xue explores beauty through its multiple, temporary, cultural forms, starting from how it emanates from within. His approach allows him to elevate the idea of commercial fashion to an abstraction, at times suspended and surreal, which opens up an artistic view of the world. His latest series, "The Peking Opera", published on Harper's Bazaar China, portrays opera singers and model Wangy Xin Yu, dressed in costumes of traditional Chinese theatre.
