From an aesthetic interpretation to an ethical choice. We're talking about bag collection "Trasformazione Est-Etica", signed by Silvia Massacesi, a series that is a manifesto of how fashion can be made with respect for the environment.
Lengthy research was carried out to improve the characteristics of the eco-friendly materials used. But in the end, the young fashion designer and her collaborator Davide Mariani managed to take two delicate elements such as natural cork and recycled paper and make them flexible and resistant.
The trick to making these accessories is a "sandwich" system that alternates layers of cork and paper, with a core that is also recycled, and that enriches the bag with geometric decorations made by combining classic Italian craftsmanship with modern technology.
The manufacturing process allows the customization of the decorations according to the taste of the client, without modifying the shape yet with lower production costs. A system that won Massacesi the first prize of the Comitato Leonardo – "Alfredo Canessa, Centro di Firenze per la Moda Italiana” – Fashion and Sustainability.
A helping hand was provided to Silvia Massacesi, more concentrated on the functional and aesthetic aspects of the product, by the brand's cofounder Davide Mariani, specialized in research and technological innovation of materials. Two complementary souls that meet to combine ethics and aesthetics in a project of fashion with a cause.
