Yukai Du is an illustrator and animator who has made color and movement her signature. Born in Guangzhou, China, she graduated from the Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and is currently based in London.
Her research is focused on bright hues and contrasting lines that make images more vibrant. Many of her works are animated, but even the static ones seem to move thanks to the color palette used. Du has worked for TED-Ed Lessons and for prestigious clients like Adobe, BBC, “The New York Times” and “The Washington Post”. Her “An Anthology Vol.1” series is a collection of surreal environments revolving around the central concept of water, where melancholic characters almost disappear in nonsense scenes that seem to come right out of a dream. The artist named the series after literary anthologies, to evoke the collection of individual works of art that represent different ways of thinking or imaginary sceneries.
