Hundreds of porcelain spikes, created and assembled by hand: Zemer Peled’s works are a combination of a craftsperson’s technical virtuosity and unleashed creativity.
Peled gives life to creations that fully represent the clash between frail matter and violent strength, symbolized by pointy and sharp elements. Her visual language is inspired by nature and its landscapes, and plays with the concepts of memory and belonging. Her installations have been showcased in London’s Saatchi Gallery and Tel Aviv’s Eretz Israel Museum. Her sculptures strive to spark wonder and attract the viewer with rounded and apparently soft shapes, which then reveal their brutality upon closer inspection. Like the world, they seem welcoming but can also hurt.
